How long does an appointment take?
It depends on the number of documents and signatures involved. We’ll give you an estimated time frame when you schedule your appointment.
What forms of ID are acceptable?
California accepts only identification allowed by state law, not every government-issued photo ID. Examples include a California DMV identification card or driver’s license and a U.S. passport that is current or was issued within five years. Other listed IDs have additional requirements. Tell us what ID you have before the appointment; the notary must determine whether it meets California’s requirements.
What if I don’t have a valid ID?
A notarization may be possible, but it is not automatic. California allows one qualifying credible witness personally known to the notary, or two qualifying witnesses not personally known to the notary. The witnesses must satisfy statutory identification and sworn-statement requirements; simply bringing two people is not enough. Contact us before booking so the notary can review the options under the California Notary Public Handbook.
Do you offer apostille services?
Yes. California apostilles are a separate document-authentication service from mobile notarization. See our California apostille services page for state-specific document checks, fees, and routing, or send the document for review.
Can I cancel or reschedule an appointment?
Yes. Free-cancellation windows depend on when the appointment was booked. Rescheduling without a fee may be available if the notary has availability and has not started traveling. Contact us as soon as possible and we will work with you on the available options. No-shows are non-refundable. See the full Cancellation Policy.
Can a California-commissioned notary notarize over a video call?
Not currently. The California Secretary of State says California notaries must meet the signer in person for acknowledgments and jurats; a video call does not replace that appearance. This answer concerns California-commissioned notaries, not notaries commissioned in other states.
